Christopher Jonathan Reid of Truro, who was killed today while on duty near Kandahar, Afghanistan. “All Canadians are mourning the loss of this fallen soldier, but it hits very close to home when we learn he was a Nova Scotian,” said Premier MacDonald. “We offer to his family, his friends and colleagues our sympathy and prayers while they absorb this tragic loss. May they know that all Nova Scotians are so proud of Cpl. Reid’s service to Canada in which he selflessly and bravely worked to bring peace to this troubled country.” Out of respect for Cpl. Reid, the premier announced that flags at both Province House and the provincial buildings in Truro will be lowered to half-mast.last_img read more
